Before I even knew I was pregnant, I felt it. Right from the beginning I was sick, but somehow I loved this feeling -- to me, this meant everything was right and progressing appropriately. SO even on those days I could barely get off the couch, I still couldn't stop smiling about the little life that was growing inside me. Yay!!!!! Here is a little recap of how I felt week by week during the fist trimester:
Week 4: 10 January 2013 - The day I found out we were pregnant!!!!!!! I had been feeling a bit under the weather, a little flu-like. I figured I was just run-down, but little did I know! We didn't believe it at first, and haven't been able to stop smiling since :) :) :)
Week 5: I called my doctor, and made my first appointment for the following week. My first pregnancy sign was a terrible headache, and I am not a headache girl. The pounding kind, right between my eyeballs. ouch!
Week 6: This week I had my first ultrasound at 6 weeks, 3 days. Amazing! Our baby didn't look like much, just a little blob... but in the middle of that beautiful blob was it's little flickering heartbeat. 126 beats per minute, was magic to my eyes.
Week 7: Hello morning sickness, it's nice to meet you. Although I'm not quite sure why they call it morning sickness, since I felt quizzey from the minute I wake up, until the minute I fall asleep and every single minute in between. Brutal. But wonderful at the same time! It's truly amazing how something so little can make you feel so sick. I love you already little baby.
Week 8: Jason was taking a class in Charlottesville, VA for the week. I was being pretty useless around the house, so I figured I could be equally useless in Charlottesville and that way we could still be together -- especially since Valentines Day happened to fall during this week :) I had every intention of waking up, exercising in the hotel gym everyday, exploring the adorable downtown area, and Jason and I would have lovely date-nights out every night! Not quite. I could hardly get out of bed this week, and the thought of food totally made my tummy flip. Favorites this week: bagels with cream cheese and frozen yogurt.
Week 9: I stopped feeling sick this week, and freaked out that something was wrong. At my doctors appointment, I expressed my concerns and was told to enjoy the days my symptoms seem to be going away, because they will surely return.... and right on cue, the next morning I was back on the couch.
Week 10: Normally, I am a very active person. Lately my days revolve around trying to make it through a yoga class without puking, and coming home to take a 2-hour nap to recover from.... yoga. Who am I??? Pregnant, that's who :) White carbs are my life lately. Plain Cheerio's, white bread, pasta with no sauce, fruit popsicles, you get the idea.. I basically reverted to eating like a 5 year old!
Week 11: I keep reading that after the first trimester, your energy starts to come back. I am very anxious for this!
