35 Weeks!

35 Weeks! I can now count the number of weeks left on one hand :) Pretty cool!

On our way home to Virginia, we stopped in Connecticut for the wedding of one of my best friends!!! It was an absolutely beautiful weekend :) Jason and I stayed in the cutest little bed and breakfast the night of the rehearsal dinner, which took place in a gorgeous venue overlooking the amazing gardens in these pictures. I'm sure my pregnancy hormones play into this, but it is so special to watch two people who you know are so in love start the rest of their lives together. I love you guys!!!

I was so excited Cait asked me to be in her wedding, and even more excited that I fit into my bridesmaid dress ;) I waited as long as possible before ordering it, because I didn't know what size I was going to need. I remember my dress arrived in the mail, and upon opening the box my initial reaction was, "What was I thinking? This thing is huge!" .... then I put it on, and it fit almost perfectly ha.

34 Weeks!

This week we traveled home to Maine! Jason was unable to make the trip with me in July, so a college friend's New England wedding gave us the perfect opportunity to make the trip up to vacationland for another visit :) I love Maine. My husband grew up in the Air Force, so he doesn't really have a "home state." I joke that Maine adopted him. I love taking Jason home and showing him how beautiful my our state is.

The car ride was l-o-n-g. My doctor instructed me that I needed to get out of the car every 2 hours and walk around. (apparently being pregnant and sitting too long can lead to blood clots - yikes!) We left early in the morning and took our time, we didn't have anything we had to get home to until the next day. Our plan was if the trip was too much we would stop and spend the night somewhere along the way, but we just powered through! We actually made great time, considering all the stops to get out and walk around and my million pee breaks along the way!

Jason ran, while I walked this great new paved path in town! They are slowly extending it, and I can't wait till we can take our bikes home and go for family bike rides with a baby seat attached :)

I learned that preggo bellies also make great baby seats! Haha. This is my sweet little niece, how cute is she!? I was so excited my sister-in-law and niece were also home visiting the same week :)

We took the ferry over for some Maine island adventures, with my Dad and brother.

Of course, we ate lobsters! Lobster in Maine is always fresh... but Jason actually got to pull the lobster trap out of the ocean for these guys :)

This picture melts me! We went over to dinner at our friends' house, and Jason got to practice feeding their daughter! He looks like a natural to me! ;)

33 Weeks!

It shouldn't surprise you that Jason and I, with our very type-A personalities, signed up for any and every baby class offered in our area. We are so excited about our baby, we want to be as prepared as possible! I know these classes will not teach us everything, and some of the stuff we already know, but why not take advantage of all of the resources we have around us? We have been really enjoying our classes at the hospital where I will deliver. The hospital is beautiful! There are private rooms, and each is equipped with wifi, which couldn't be more perfect when you live away from family and friends. After our little baby girl has arrived, we will have the ability to Skype with those who want to "meet" her right away! How cool is that? I'm really excited.

We took our maternity wing hospital tour this week. The classes up until now have seemed "real" but still in a learning in the classroom kind of way. When we were on the tour, it got r.e.a.l. for me. We were in one of the delivery rooms, and I don't know if it was a combination of being excited, or nervous or both? But all of the sudden I started getting really hot, feeling faint, and my head started to spin. Jason got me some ice water so I wouldn't pass out. Oh man, this is real. Those who know me, know I like to be in control of situations, and the more I learn about labor, the more I realize that a lot of it is somewhat out of my control. Sure, Jason and I have our "game plan", but I have never been in labor before, I don't really know what to expect and I that is hard for me. I really like talking to other moms and learning about what they went through. I want to be prepared for both ends of the spectrum, as I am certain my birth experience will fall somewhere in the middle. It is important to me to be prepared for anything and everything. As the weeks grow closer, I continue to have feelings of nervousness and excitement. Something Jason keeps reminding me is that when the time comes, our little girl is coming into the world... however she is supposed to. Until then, I am trying to relax and focus on what I can control, being as healthy as I can be, to keep her as healthy as she can be :)

Virginia Baby Shower!

I know I have said this before, but I really have the most wonderful friends here in Virginia! I feel so lucky to have such amazing women in my life, it really makes being far away from family a little easier. My girlfriends sent me off to get a relaxing mani and pedi, and when I returned it was baby shower time! The theme for my shower was "girly owls"to go with the nursery decor. Everything was decorated so cute! I absolutely loved every little detail :) Photo Credit to Megan!

I decided a nice bright pink color was appropriate :) Yay for a girl!!!!

Delicious food, and pink punch (obviously!) This was the first time my gorgeous new punch bowl was used! It was handed down to me from my Aunt Tootsie :) Isn't it beautiful?

How amazing are these pink owl deviled eggs!!! I couldn't get over how cute they looked (and how yummy they tasted!)

The diaper cake was wrapped in adorable homemade flower bows and headbands, and check out those little owl name tags (I have such creative friends!!!!)

These owl cupcakes were to die for! Especially the extra large vanilla with vanilla (my fav!) on top :) That sweet little owl was a perfect match to the nursery -- too cute!

Opening gifts! How talented is my friend Jaime!? She made this gorgeous blanket! I'm obsessed :)

Playing the game "How big is Brooke's Belly" Everyone had to cut a piece of ribbon the size they thought I was, and then we measured. Logan got it exactly right on! Does she know me, or what?

32 Weeks!

32 weeks! Our little girl is moving around like crazy these days! Some of my friends were over this week, and could actually see her kung-fu ninja kicks through my shirt while we sat and talked. Crazy!! and so cool :)

Sleeping at night is not really my scene lately. I was getting so good at barely opening my eyes and sleepwalking to the bathroom and back, but lately when I get out of bed in the middle of the night, I can't fall back asleep for.ever. I think it's mainly because my belly is bigger now, and it's hard to get comfortable. Those of you who follow me on Pinterest probably have noticed my regular and perhaps out of control 3:00am posting additions, now you know why.

Well, I have officially been bitten by the "nesting" bug. Anyone who knows me, knows I am normally a little OCD when it comes to cleaning and organizing, but lately it's to a whole new level! This nesting thing is no joke. But, it's kind of exciting because I really feel like once all my little house nesting projects are complete we will officially be ready for baby :)

Yes I have the obvious "make the nursery as perfectly adorable as possible" nesting, which is the most fun. She has quite the little wardrobe already, and I have been having so much fun going through and organizing her closet while picturing her in all her cute little clothes!!! But I also have the "hmmm what's in this closet we never go into"nesting. I am on a downsizing kick. If we haven't used it since we have lived here, which is a year now, what are the chances we really neeeeeeed it? I'm talking mostly old clothes and odds and ends that really have seen their last day. I hate clutter, and don't think there is anything wrong with downsizing our life, before it gets completely crazy around here. I think this nesting thing effects men too, and I am not complaining one bit! Jason has been man-nesting the outside of our house. Power washing the driveway, cleaning windows and screens etc. Keep it up, daddy-to-be! I like this :)

Maine Baby Shower!

While home in Maine, my wonderful mother threw Jason and I a beautiful baby shower for her future granddaughter :) It was beyond pinterest-worthy! Check out that diaper cake, and cute lollipop flower arrangement! The lollipops all say "it's a girl!" SO cute! :)

Everything was perfect!!! Thank you so much, Mom!

Living so far away, it was amazing to spend quality time with family and friends. The weather called for thunderstorms, but luckily the sky cooperated and gave us a beautiful day!

Jason and I are truly blessed with the best family ever!

Thanks to everyone for spoiling our baby girl! I arrived back in Virginia, with my suitcases FULL of wonderful gifts :)

Next up: I can't wait to organize everything in her nursery!!! Pictures to come...

31 Weeks!

Single digit number of weeks left till I'm due!!! SO EXCITING :)

I LOVE being home in Maine. I was a total pool bum this week! In Virginia, it has been way too hot & humid to enjoy being outside. Besides my early morning walks, I have been staying in the AC as much as possible. While home in Maine, the weather was gorgeous, and I took full advantage of it soaking in some much needed vitamin D, and catching up on some reading (baby books, of course!), and thoroughly enjoying some ultimate relaxing mother daughter time! I can't wait to come back in August!!!

This is where I lived for the entire week :) Paradise.

I also had daily visits from this little beauty and her momma! I couldn't get over how much she loved the water!!! She is such a sweet baby, I can't get enough of her!

30 Weeks!

30 weeks! Only 10 weeks left! That still sounds soooo far away, but I've been feeling great and keeping busy, so the weeks have actually been flying by. I remember earlier in pregnancy thinking I would never get to 30 weeks, it just seemed so far away... and yet here I am! It's so exciting!!!! I keep hearing that the third trimester can sometimes be difficult, but so far so good! Please be nice to me third trimester ;)

Enjoying a day on the lake in Maine!

It's hard to live so far away from my family, but it makes coming home to visit really special. I started off my vacation with my Dad and his family. We had a cookout on the lake one day, and traveled by ferry to an island the next. Island life is so carefree, I love it! We walked all around, spent time on the beach, and of course had fresh seafood on a deck overlooking the ocean. The weather was perfect, and it was so fun to spend some quality father daughter time with my Dad :)

The following day, we had a big family party at my Dad's. I got to see almost all of my extended family, and my cousins all have kids now so I love getting to see them! They are all growing up so fast, it's unbelievable. Jason and I will be coming back together to visit in August, so I look forward to Jason getting to spend some time with my family then!

29 Weeks! Date Night & Pregnancy Brain

This is my last week in the "twenties" of pregnancy. So crazy! Time seems to be flying by, which I hope continues because Jason and I are getting very excited to meet our little girl! Jason and I are trying to take advantage of all the things we love to do that will become more difficult when our sweetie arrives. Date nights are my favorite! I love going out to dinner and a movie with my man.

My new favorite "pregnancy addition" to our movie dates, is a sweet (pun intended) little candy shop that is conveniently located right next door to the theater. I have been all about sour candy lately, and they have a self serve jelly bean station. Of course I wanted to try just about every flavor, and they charge by the pound -- bad combo. I spent roughly $10 on these little sour yummies, but loved every single one of them :)

Other news, I had my first bout of Pregnancy Brain this week! I've heard about this happening, but like other things, I sometimes feel like it won't happen to me... until it does. I am now a believer, pregnancy brain is a very real thing.

I was flying home to Maine to visit my family and friends, and while booking my ticket online I kept going back and fourth between Wednesday and Thursday to see which day I would find a better deal. In my mind I was flying home Wednesday, end of story. I told everyone that was the day I would be home, and had Jason drive me to the airport before heading into work that morning. I had everything figured out -- my Dad would meet me in Boston to pick me up, and then we would spend a fun father daughter day driving back along to coast, making some scenic stops along the way. That would have worked out perfectly! If indeed, I booked my ticket for Wednesday....

Jason dropped me off at the airport. I go right in, and begin the self service check in. The machine proceeded to quickly spit out a ticket reading "you cannot check in more then 24-hours before your flight" WHAT! I quickly realize that maybe I scheduled myself to fly home on Thursday after all. I wait in line to ask the desk agent if there was anyway I could get on the Wednesday flight (same exact flight, time and everything.) I put on my best "please help me I am a stranded pregnant women" face, which was totally wasted because she was no help. With a smile, she told me that of course I could get on that flight for a mere small charge of an additional $200. Welp, that's a no go.

I called Jason to come rescue his damsel in distress, and upon getting back into the car immediately start sobbing completely overwhelmed with pregnancy hormones. Jason is so sweet to me, and insisted that it was no big deal, and that he had done the same thing before (I know he was lying just to make me feel better, but I still appreciated him not laughing at me.)

SO, long story short... that was our airport practice run. We repeated the exact same routine on Thursday morning, in a very deja vu way (down to I wore the same comfy cute outfit, and we made the same coffee and bagel pit stop on our way to the airport round two.) The only thing that didn't work out the same, was my Dad had to work Thursday so he could not pick me up in Boston. Luckily, my girlfriend Becca saved me. I hoped a bus to New Hampshire, where she picked me up, and we went out to lunch and walked around a cute coastal city. I am always SO excited to see Becca, but I was even more excited this time because I had yet to meet her beautiful daughter who was born in April. Oh. My. Goodness. she is an absolutely gorgeous baby girl! Check out this beautiful babe:

I was SO excited to meet Little Miss Taylor Mae, but apparently I was boring her.

It's so fun to see my friend become a mom! She is doing such a good job, and I can't wait to join her in this exciting new chapter of our lives, motherhood!!! I can't wait for our baby girls to meet and become instant besties just like their mommas :)

28 Weeks!

Hello Third Trimester!

The 4th of July fell on a Thursday this year, which meant a 4-day long weekend with Jason :) Long weekends are maybe my favorite thing ever. Ok definitely my favorite thing ever!

We stayed home and celebrated low key this year, which was really nice. We went for long walks, got some yard work done, grilled out on our deck, had a movie night on the couch (popcorn and candy included... of course), went out for ice cream, and took a day trip to a local state park. That alone would have made for a pretty awesome weekend! But then on the fourth, we went to an outdoor concert and enjoyed a late night dinner at a favorite restaurant! We ate outside on the patio while watching fireworks overhead. It was a picture perfect evening with my husband.

I had a doctors appointment this week, and everything continues to go great! I still get goosebumps hearing her healthy heart beat. Best sound ever :) I feel so lucky that this pregnancy has been so easy. Now that I am in the third trimester, I know things are about to get real! But I also get SO excited as every week passes and we get closer to the day we get to meet our new little addition. September will be here before we know it!

27 Weeks! Nursery Pics :)

27 Weeks! Check out that belly!!! :)

Okay..... so you may remember from an earlier post, I had big plans for the nursery. Sweet pastel colors and shabby chic decor. WELL, the girl who was SO against having a matchy-matchy "themed" nursery, mayyyyyybe fell in love with a bright colorful completely themed new idea: "Girly Owls" I like to call it :) I officially retired the previous fabric swatches and the ideas I designing up, and Jason and I began crafting this fun new nursery for our little girl. What do you think?? We're in love.

The walls are a light mint green color, which I think makes the bright colors really pop!

You'll notice there is a bare spot that was left under the two yellow owls on the tree on the wall. I envisioned hanging a painted wooden letter there for her first name. Jason and I thought this would be cute, since it lends itself to be centered over her crib. But after talking that idea over with our moms, the consensus was:

1. It could look too cluttered, maybe save that idea for another wall... and then we would have room to spell out her whole name.

2. Eventually our little lady will be able to stand in the crib, and maybe it wasn't smart to have a wooden "weapon" so easily accessible to her reach.

Both are very valid points. Our moms' advice is yet again proven invaluable :) SO, on to plan b... add some extra leaves and flowers to fill in that spot :)

Next up: I am on the search for the perfect curtain rod, so I can hang the curtains! I'm thinking a white rod with something pink and adorable for finials on the ends.

I am having way too much fun decorating! More nursery pics to come.....

26 Weeks!

Happy 1st Fathers Day, to my amazing husband!!!

I thought what better gift for the daddy-to-be, then his very own manly diaper bag!? This one is by the brand "Diaper Dude", and will be perfect for all the upcoming daddy daughter outings in their future :)

This is the diaper bag I have picked out, that I really want:

And even though it is a nice "neutral" grey and white print... Jason was already worrying about having to carry this ulta-femme diaper bag around. Thank you Diaper Dude brand for your masculine diaper bags :) Jason loved it!!!!

We took our first baby class at the hospital this week! It was the breastfeeding class, which I assumed was just for the moms. I'm so glad I mentioned to a friend that I was going, and that Jason wasn't planning on joining. Her advice was that her husband went with her, and that you'd be surprised how many of the dads would also be there. She also said what a big help it was that her husband had been there to hear all the same info... so those nights when it just isn't working and you just want to cry, he can be like, "remember the teacher said this might help etc." Thank you Logan! Jason was certainly not the only man in the room, and we both learned a lot! I got the names of some recommended books to read up on too, which have already been added to my momma-to-be reading list :)

Exciting baby news: I felt her have hiccups for the first time!!! It was unbelievable -- very soft, rhythmic movement in the same spot for about a minute. I couldn't stop smiling as I lay there with my hand on my belly feeling her sweet lil hiccups. Love her so much already!!!
